I crushed my left ankle in a hiking accident in 1982. As a result, I experience difficulty when wearing "regular" shoes. Ten years ago a good friend and fellow Birki wearer insisted I try a pair of Birkis promising they would be the most comfortable shoes I would ever own. She was right! I now own five pair of Birkis which I wear year round from the office to church. My wife used to laugh at my "Fred Flintstone" shoes but now my little "Wilma" wears hers everyday too. I wore my first Birkenstock's about 15 years ago and now have around 30 pairs. I wear them winter or summer and love the Boston's for winter. My most fun pair is the Star's and Sripe's Birkey. I just returned from Florida and a friend called me tonight to find out how to get a pair of Star's and Stripe's. I explained that if she orders over $100.00 she will get free shipping. Everyone makes comments about my great shoes and I stress how comfortable they are. I have had 5 foot surgeries so a good shoe is what I need and comfort is an added plus.
